I Got A Kindle

Intro #

I was skeptical at first... For some reason, I thought the whole e-reader thing was a bit of a scam. Just another way to put money into Jeff's pocket (alternatives are available). For that reason, I didn't have any real interest in buying one. But a week or two ago, my sister-in-law asked if I wanted to borrow her Kindle Paperwhite. To be honest, I hesitated at first, but I decided to give it a try because why not?

The First Few Days #

I've never read so much in such a short amount of time...

Every day after looking at my computer screen for 9 hours, I whip out the Kindle and get lost in it for an hour until my wife finishes work. It's effortless.

I've never been much of a reader, outside of reading documentation and various tech blogs. But now that I've got this e-reader thing going, I've started to plan ahead for which books I want to read next. I've never had that feeling before, but I like it. This should also make reading my university textbooks much easier. If I want to study away from my desk, I can get stuck into the weekly reading from the comfort of my own bed. Wicked.

Conclusion #

"Don't knock it until you try it."

If I had stuck to my original mindset of rejecting the e-reader idea for no good reason, I almost certainly wouldn't be getting this much enjoyment out of reading. Maybe I wouldn't be reading at all! Thank you to my sister-in-law for lending me this wonderful device, and thank you, Jeff, for making it possible.
